The "Why"

Homeownership is a crucial foundation for moving families out of poverty, but there are significant disparities in rates of homeownership between the BIPOC community and their white counterparts. Credit unions are uniquely positioned to help reverse that disparity.

History

Veridian and GreenState have each taken unique paths in our efforts to close racial disparities in homeownership.

Current Programs

Each credit union creates its own way to make an impact. Efforts might include community nonprofit partnerships, customized loan products, supplemental programs and more.

Commitment from Iowa Credit Unions

Twelve Iowa credit unions have pledged to invest 10% of assets in home loans for the BIPOC community over the next decade.
